More is Less

Doing a double take? Yes, in warm weather, more of the right kind of clothing can equal staying cooler as opposed to what most people think about how you should dress when the sun gets hot. Extra short, tight shorts, camisole top, and flip flops. Does this ensemble sound familiar? It also sounds hot! Wearing constricting unbreathable clothes and exposing more skin area to the sun isn’t going to keep you cool. However, wearing loose fitting, lightweight, clothes that protect your skin from the sun and insulate your body will keep you cooler. Get out those cotton blouses, skirts, lightweight bermuda shorts, and dresses, girls, and enjoy staying cool!
Keep it smart casual by adding some accessories:

I totally agree with your thoughts on staying cooler. Those tight shirts are definitely hotter- I hate them. Sorry, I didn’t mean to be that blunt, but I do.

No, I completely sympathize with your sentiments, Bailey! Tight shirts just don’t allow the air to circulate around your body.

Well said, Anna. I find since I have begun reading your posts that I am paying much more attention to little details of dress to try and look ‘classy’, though I’m sure you couldn’t tell in my sloppy ensemble last week.
) I’m VERY tempted to buy that cute black Catie dress at the Christa-Taylor website!

Help, Anna! I don’t know if there would be reason to make a whole post on this topic but are there any guidelines as to when and which shirts to tuck in? (For girls.)Thanks

I must say, I’m a fan of burmuda shorts and t-shirts (not spaghetti strap
)…but you do have a point.

Thanks Lisa! No, you looked very polished and put together last week, what are you talking about? Your white capris were very pretty and cool looking; I wish I had a pair. And Anna was adorably dressed! Keep her wearing those cute dresses.
I can hardly wait to see you both again a couple of weeks.
Bonnie, hmm, well I don’t generally tuck my shirt in, except if it looks good with what I’m wearing, since I’m short, tucking my shirt in usually isn’t an option, because I end up looking thick around the middle AND cut in half. But if it’s a voluminous shirt then you don’t usually tuck those in, but wear them over a slimmer fitting bottom. If it’s a straight cut style, or a tee or knit top then you could tuck it in as long as what you are wearing has an actual waistband. Not an elastic waistband.
Ellen, bermuda shorts and t-shirts are great! I love bermuda shorts. Just make sure that your t-shirt is in good condition and accessorize with a lightweight, pretty printed scarf, small wedge heels, a piece of jewelry and you have a smart casual outfit.
