A Tip or Two

April 28, 2008

Just a couple of fashion tips for ya’ll:

Volume Control Volume is big for this season and can look fabulous on top or bottom if you keep this in mind; either wear volume on top with a slim fitting bottom, or wear it on the bottom with a slim fitting top. Skip the volume on volume look, even models are sporting in various fashion magazines; you don’t want to look like a balloon!

How not to wear volume:

How to wear volume:

Accessory Overload Earrings, rings, bracelet, and a necklace? I love wearing jewelry that compliments my outfit, but when I’m wearing so many pieces that they are beginning to compete with my outfit I need to pare it down a little. Let’s take off the rings, bracelet and necklace and leave just those lovely earrings to flatter my chic dress. Even if you do have pierced ears it’s all right to leave those earrings off if you can’t resist wearing that darling necklace! Too many pieces of jewelry can easily overwhelm an outfit.

My Apologies

April 25, 2008

I’m so sorry I dropped off the face of the earth (so to speak) for the last couple of weeks. I was a pretty busy girl up in Seattle, WA assisting a family whose father went through a stroke a couple of months ago. The good news is that he is recovering at an astounding speed. The interesting news is that it snowed 6 inches on me while I was up there! I hadn’t packed my snow boots so my feet got wet, but I had fun. :)

I’m back now, however! So expect some posts from me soon and in the meantime read this story linked to from You Look Fab. *Warning* You may be slightly disturbed by Cameron Diaz’s hipbones.

Virtual Shopping

April 4, 2008

*Sigh* I’m not the richest person in the world. I’m not paid to sport designer labels. Personally, I wouldn’t want to do that, and if I had heaps of money to burn I wouldn’t spend it all on clothes. ;) But sometimes I like to “virtual shop”; not too often or I risk becoming discontented with my current closet. However, if my rich great-aunt died and left me something in her will, I’d probably buy the following things for my wardrobe:

Pearl Dress from April Cornell: $89.00

Sofft Tyla from Zappos: $158.40

Belle by Sigerson Morrison from Piperlime: $290.00

Waterleaf Dress from Anthropologie: $178.00

All-Embracing Flared Skirt from Anthropologie: $78.00

Alleyways Skirt from Anthropologie: $118.00

Paige Premium Denim ‘Benedict Canyon’ Stretch Jeans from Nordstroms: $179.00

Rock and Republic ‘Cosbie’ Straight Leg Stretch Jeans from Nordstroms: $187.00

Newark Avenue Coat from Christ-Taylor: $60.99

Classic Pencil Skirt from Christa-Taylor: $15.00

Grainy Leather Handbag from Boden: $148.00

Chic Ruffle Cardigan from Boden: $74.00

Okay. Whew! I went to town there. Let’s add up the grand total….$1,575.39???? This is why it’s only virtual shopping. ;)

Highlights

You may not have noticed, but I surreptitiously added a couple of links to the sidebar.

Christa-Taylor has cute, semi-affordable ($$) clothing for those who wish to be fashionable but also modest. Their clearance section has some wonderful deals.

Also make sure to check out Christa’s blog which has some substantial advice for aspiring fashionistas.

Next is Layer’s Clothing ($$ as well); an original boutique which has some classic, understated pieces. They also have one of the best clearance pages that I have ever seen. There are dresses for $15.00 and shirts for $10.00! Wow!

Take a peek. :)
